| The Parish Nurse ministry at St Paul Lutheran Church was initiated in June 2001. This all
Volunteer program is dedicated to the wellness of individuals and families within our
Congregation and gains supportive information from the LCMS (Lutheran Church
Missouri Synod) World Relief and Human Care Congregational Health Ministries which
provides information on Parish Nursing to churches throughout the LCMS districts.
The Parish Nurses at St Paul provide Christ-centered spiritual support for our
Congregation several; ways. We provide monthly blood pressure screenings and
assessments for need. We locate information and referrals for health related problems,
and we also do seminars on topics of interest to groups within the church. We support our
Pastor in providing health related information to people in need and support our
congregation by providing a listening spirit and caring heart for people in need of our
assistance. Our desire is to serve our Lord and Savior by serving others. Parish nurses
combine their knowledge of the body with Christian motivation to help people toward
better health. We believe that we as parish nurses have an obligation to reach out with a
healing hand to others. We do not replace the nursing care provided by hospitals and
home health care agencies, however, as members of a Christian community, we do
believe that caring for the body mind and spirit is our obligation as Christian nurses and is
an important part of the well being of the whole person.
Health is a dynamic process. Healing , teaching, and loving are signs of Gods presence
within us. By attending to the needs of others we demonstrate Christ's love for all.
“If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4: 12
In August of 2003, the St. Paul Players hosted a production of "Uncle Phil's Diner."
The cast and all who attended had a great time. The procedes of the play went to the Parish
